DIY Watercolour Mugs

WATERCOLOUR MUG RED - CLOSEUP

I have been lusting over watercolour mugs for a very long time and though I found many of them on Etsy, I wanted to make my own. DIY can be quite daunting but I couldn’t believe how easy and cheap this was.

WATERCOLOUR MUGS

WHAT YOU NEED:

1 ceramic mug – I got mine from IKEA

Nail polish – I like to use two complementary shades

1 old bowl

1 skewer

WATERCOLOUR BLUE MUG - CLOSEUP

HOW TO

Fill the bowl with warm water.

Add two to three drop of nail polish into the water and let it spread out. If you’re using two colours, make sure to put the dark one first and then the lightest.

Use the skewer to swirl the color around a bit to give a marble like effect. Make sure not to wait too long from dropping the nail polish and the swirling.

Dip your mug in the water and leave it to dry on a paper towel for at least 2 hours.

Don’t worry if you mess up, you can use nail polish remover to remove any excess nail polish from the bottom and inside of the mug or anywhere that got messed up.

Make sure to handwash your mugs which are also not microwave safe.
