Lip scrubs is the one thing I always felt unnecessary to buy, when lips are dry there’s nothing a good lip balm can’t fix. However, when the cold weather really hits you in the face and your lips start drying out and chapping then probably it’s time to take a scrub into consideration.
So today I took it to my kitchen and went down the DIY route. The process is surprisingly quick, easy and efficient.
All you need is:
1 empty pot
1 small bowl
2 tsp of caster sugar (or regular sugar if you don’t mind a rougher scrub)
1.5 tsp of room temperature coconut oil
As I said, the process is really simple and quick. Take the bowl and put the sugar and coconut oil in and get stirring until mixed properly. The next and last step is to decant it in your empty pot and that’s it! Easy Peasy!
I keep mine in the fridge cause I find it easier to pick up as the coconut oil will melt slowly as you’re massing the product in. All you need to do is take a dollop of the scrub, massage it on your lips and then you have two options: either eat it, which is always fun, or you can wash it off with warm water. Final step to the lip ‘skincare’ routine, put some lip balm on and you’re ready to go.
This is actually a great routine to be doing before putting on a red lipstick and if you really want to go to town, you can use it as a hand scrub. Don’t think that won’t change your life, because the first time I’ve done a hand scrub I wouldn’t stop talking about it, my friend Hannah can confirm.
