Sorry for the Rocky Horror intro kind of picture but it was my dream of doing one and I felt a post red lipstick just called for it, it had to be done.
Red lipsticks are a Marmite kind of product, either you love it or you hate it and I obviously love it. I find they’re the perfect way to make it seem you put a lot of thought into your makeup when in fact you couldn’t be bothered at all, or you just need to jazz up an all-black outfit.
Been there, done that got the t-shirt.
I picked this one up at Sephora in New York and I couldn’t be happier about it. I LOVE it! For 20$ you might think it’s quite expensive but it’s oh so worth the money. The colour it’s amazing, I get so many compliments whenever I wear it. It’s a true brick red which makes it perfect for summer as well as for winter, and the cherry on top is that no matter what you do this will not budge. I put it on at 7.30am before leaving for work, drink coffee, water, eat lunch, snack and by dinner time is still there. Honestly, you need to reapply after lunch if you want it to be as good as when you applied it, otherwise you can leave it as it leaves a nice homogenous stain to the lips which won’t look weird if you don’t. Another plus point, I don’t find it to be drying at all which tends to happen with matte lipstick.
You can see what I mean about jazzing up an otherwise ‘no-makeup’ look. In the picture above I am literally just wearing concealer, mascara and brow gel, but the red lipstick just gives the pow! effect.
This shade is more of a winter or evening shade as it’s more of a deep wine red but for the budget of £5.50 I think it’s ok. With a small price it comes that the application is not as nice as the Kat Von D one and it’s a bit drying so it requires a bit of preparation before putting it on, but for this result, I am fine with it.
