Week End in Birmingham

As you may or may not know, last week I escaped London for the weekend to hang out with my friend Hannah to celebrate the end of her exams and her new job. It was a great relaxing week end. We had dim sum with some of her friends and her brother in Birmingham’s China Town…SO GOOD! I honestly think I haven’t had such amazing Chinese food since I lived in Beijing… AMAZING!

We then had a cheeky, well, I had *oops*, shopping spree in Selfridges. In my defense though, when the first thing you see up the stairs, is a Charlotte Tilbury makeup counter where they’re having a makeup masterclass, I mean, is like it was meant to be. It was destiny, Carpe Diem and YOLO all together screaming my name and a girl needs to do what she’s gotta do! I was so excited after the class that I had to call my parents to tell them…such a nerd! We then had a dessert dinner…Classy, but yummy!

The highlights of my short weekend though have to be our brunch at Juju and an impromptu visit at Sea Life.

Ju Ju Café has become a tradition of ours since I went to visit Hannah for the first time. This café has a cute atmosphere, close to the canal and one of the best uplifting decors I’ve ever seen. Quirky yet classic it never fails to put a smile on my face – suffice to say, on the mirror in they toilet there’s an handwritten “WOW! You look fab today!” –  I take pleasure in the details and I am considering to do the same in my bathroom mirror. Who would not like to get a compliment first thing in the morning? The food is really good too. I had my usual Eggs Benedict but next time I’ll definitely copy Hannah and get Juju’s Meat Hash. So delicious! The fact that it comes in a pan, and I am sold and in love already, but the hash itself…Heaven! Plus Ju Ju is a babe! What’s not to love!

After brunch we took a walk and bumped into the Sea Life Aquarium, after making sure they had sharks we went in. Wasn’t it just amazing? I think we were the only ones without offspring there but we instantly became our own offspring when we got super excited watching the penguin swimming, and were desperately reading everything and punching our booklet to get our prize. Oh kids! When we finally got to the sharks, Hannah had to push me away, as probably I would still be there staring. So beautiful…

Despite the good weather in London I am looking forward my next escapade….Paris j’arrive!
